Taking a dig at the Gandhi scion, he said "missing" posters of the Congress leader had been put up in Amethi in the past.

"Belonging to a family that has been in politics should not be treated as a disqualification", he said, adding that ultimately, success depends on performance. Pilot is himself the son of the deceased former Union minister and Congress leader Rajesh Pilot. Sources said Rahul has asked Virbhadra to be there together with the other state leaders in Mandi on October 7 to present a united face.

Sources added that Rahul has told Virbhadra to take everyone along in the interest of the party and help in making the party victorious.

Singh on Friday had met Gandhi and is learnt to have discussed about the differences he has with PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in his bid to avert a possible crisis ahead of state assembly elections.During the meetings, party general secretary in-charge of Himachal Pradesh Sushil Kumar Shinde and AICC secretary Ranjeet Ranjan were also present.

While the Congress termed the Amethi district administration's move as "politically motivated" and under "pressure", the BJP found nothing wrong with the same.

Hitting out at the Congress, state BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said, "As an elected MP, Rahul has failed to work for his people and numerous development schemes promised by him are lying incomplete".
