Robert Kirkman Reveals His First New Comic in 3 Years, Oblivion Song

The cover to January's The Walking Dead #175 has been release by Image, portending some big changes for the long-running zombie title.

A decade ago 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The series picks up a decade after that event, as a man named Nathan Cole continues his quest to rescue the survivors long past the point when almost everyone else gave up on them. Nathan Cole... won't. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. This reveal followed on the heels of Kirkman's Wednesday announcement about his new ongoing series co-created with artist Lorenzo De Felici, OBLIVION SONG. But maybe... Is Nathan looking for something else?

Check out the cover below, and look for more information about the series as SYFY WIRE's coverage of New York Comic-Con (where Kirkman is set to appear on a panel) continues throughout the weekend. Why can't he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?

Given Kirkman's track record with The Walking Dead and Outcast, we wouldn't be surprised at all to see Oblivion Song also become a TV series. Invincible is already in development as a film, and his other series Thief of Thieves is in the works as a TV series. "It's definitely not why this project exists", Mr. Kirkman said at the news conference.

Kirkman and De Felici are said to have been working on the series for more than a year, and multiple issues are already completed.

Oblivion Song #1 hits shelves March 7, 2018.
