Azam ton helps Pakistan put 292 on board against Sri Lanka

Toss: Upul Tharanga, the Sri Lanka captain, won the toss and elected to field against Pakistan in the first of five One-Day Internationals in Dubai on Friday (October 13).

The Asian cricket giants collide at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in their 1st ODI match on Friday.

It's not easy to steal the limelight from a teammate who had hit a century in the same innings. But, having upset all calculations by sweeping Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series that ended on Tuesday, Sri Lanka would be hoping to inflict a bit of series pain on the home side here.

Malik and Azam kept accelerating with brilliant running between the wickets. This will be Pakistan's first ODI since winning the Champions Trophy, where they beat India in the final in June. But he was guilty of throwing away a wonderful chance to get a big hundred on what was a pretty good surface to bat.

Babar Azam top-scored in Pakistan s total of 292-6 with an excellent 103, while Shoaib Malik scored a rapid 61-ball 81 during their 139-run fourth-wicket stand.

But an unbroken 23-run partnership off 10 balls by Imad Wasim (10, five balls, 1 six) and Hasan Ali (11, five balls, 2 fours) made sure Malik's wonderful efforts didn't go in vain.
