Peace officers from the Calgary Humane Society responded to an animal cruelty complaint near 24th Street and Anderson Road S.W. early Tuesday.

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin said a man dropped off a small black male dog, which is less than a year old, after someone tossed it in the Rock River.

A badly injured puppy has been euthanized after being found abandoned in a southwest Calgary dumpster.

"There was some fairly significant fracturing of one of the legs, as well as some pelvic injuries as well - stuff that couldn't, unfortunately, be repaired", he added.

This puppy was found abandoned in a Calgary dumpster on October 10, 2017.

The identity of the puppy's owner or the person who discarded her.

The wounded dog, believed to be a Labrador/Australian Cattle Dog cross, was alive but in severe medical distress.

After assessing her condition, veterinarians made the decision to euthanize the animal. "This puppy deserves justice and we hope the public can help us serve just that by providing information toward the identity of the individual responsible".
