"Words can not properly describe the loss we feel and the emptiness Rhonda's death leaves in all of us", Jason LeRocque said. Le Rocque's mother, Priscilla Champagne, said LeRocque's husband was next to her when she was shot.

It was LeRocque's first public comment since he and the families of 57 other people lost loved ones in the October 1 deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.

LeRocque and her husband Jason had just taken their 6-year-old daughter Ali back to Ali's grandfather and returned to the concert when the shots rang out.

LeRocque said he, his wife, their daughter and his father, Roy LeRocque, had gone to Vegas, as was their "routine", for family time and to attend the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Family member Ken Ball read a statement on behalf of Rhonda LeRocque's husband, Jason, at the Tewksbury Police Department on Thursday morning.

"All of this of course is a blur to me".

Among the people Jason LeRocque praised was the pilot on their JetBlue flight home. And who, "upon landing in Boston, came out to speak to us and got down on one knee and gave his wings to Ali", LeRocque said.

Jason LeRocque also thanked the myriad people who have helped the family both in Las Vegas and in their hometown of Tewksbury. "Throughout her life, Rhonda was motivated by her love for neighbors, devoted to spending much of her time sharing the Bible's message of hope, and helping others in her community to learn about Jehovah God".

A wake for LeRocque is scheduled for Friday afternoon in Wilmington. A memorial service will be held at Tewksbury High School on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.

"Rhonda was among those who were hit very early on", he said, adding that they were able to get her to a trauma center with "heroic actions of others, ' before she died". "People who had the privilege to know Rhonda would only describe her as the happiest, most caring, sweet, and self-sacrificing person you would ever know".
