After finding out that she was expecting her first child, Britt Harris was thrilled to share the news with her husband, U.S. Army Spc. "He was so excited".

Their baby girl is due in March.

Though Britt says she is "dealing with a lot and grieving" in the wake of his passing, she adds that it's important to stay connected to her husband's fellow servicemen during her pregnancy.

Britt said that the special jubilee would have meant much to Chris, who considered his fellow soldiers to be his brothers.

"I came up with the idea because I felt like the soldiers still deployed would be forgotten or feel left out", she said.

Harris was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, according to the Department of Defense.

After her husband's death, Britt anxious about Christopher's comrades, whom he considered family and referred to as his "brothers". "Chris is an only child".

"My conception date ended up being the day he deployed", she said. "Everyone that I've met, before Chris passed and after, if they're in the military, they've treated me like actual family or royalty, actually".

Britt told ABC News that her husband's comrades were extremely supportive following her husband's death, and she wanted to keep them close to her child. They got to be the first people to know the gender of Britt and Christopher's baby.

Christopher's comrades recorded the moment they opened the poppers and got showered with pink confetti, thus learning that Britt is expecting a girl.

The soldiers filmed themselves opening the poppers in Afghanistan in front of an American flag.

Brit shipped them confetti poppers, and the squadron gathered in front of a flag on October 5 to reveal baby Harris' gender. "The reveal is in Afghanistan with the men who fought by his side. We are happy to welcome the new member of our company". "I was crying but smiling because their reaction was so wonderful".

Britt Harris plans to name her daughter Christian Michelle Harris after the baby's father, Christopher Michael Harris.
