The statement said, "In a blatant show of naked raw power, the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, this afternoon narrowly escaped being shot by security men attached to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike".

According to Nwakaudu, the governor was on project inspection when he was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road, Port Harcourt.

Simon Nwakaudu, spokesman of Governor Wike said his boss escaped assassination from Amaechi's armed men, the same claim made by the APC spokesman in the state, who also said that an outrider of Wike's convoy threatened Amaechi with a gun. He called the people of the state not to panic and go about their lawful businesses.

"The Minister of Transportation had over 50 SARS Personnel, Soldiers and Mobile Policemen in his motorcade".

"Mr. Debewari is the same police officer who assaulted members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in the fracas of 2014". Wike also stayed inside his vehicle. If anything happens to Governor Wike or his immediate family and aides, the APC and Mr. Amaechi should be held responsible. His auto wasn't that lucky though.

In a statement signed by Chinwe Nnorom, Head, Publicity Division for National Publicity Secretary, the party alleged that Amaechi on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Port Harcourt, ambushed the convoy of Wike with a contingent of Special Anti Robbery Squad operatives.

In a statement, the former Rivers governor said although he eventually passed through unhurt, his vehicle was "vandalised with a broken side mirror".

Report of the sad incident was immediately lodged at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Rivers Police Command, headed by Zaki Ahmed, while Ubaji's rifle had not been recovered, with Ewelu and other injured policemen still receiving treatment in undisclosed hospitals in Port Harcourt, as at press time.

But Mr. Amaechi denied the claims, saying that "gun-totting security men attached to Wike's convoy" surrounded Mr. Amaechi's auto, threatening to shoot him.

It was exclusively gathered yesterday evening in Port Harcourt through a top security source, who would not want to be named, that the unfortunate incident heightened tension in the area, with passersby, motorists, other road users and persons in the neighbourhood scampering to safety, to avoid being hit by stray bullets in the confusion.

"One of the two cars had security men assigned to protect the minister in Port Harcourt". They hit the vehicle, tried to smash the windscreens, back and side windows and broke a side mirror.

Amaechi's media office gave a different narrative of the incident, that brought back memories of convoy clashes between Amaechi as governor and Wike, when he was a minister of state for education and had the support of Federal Police. All through this attack, Amaechi remained calm inside the fortified vehicle.

Akin Fakorede who received the minister of transportation at the Port Harcourt International Airport and accompanied him on his trip.

The party also called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the worldwide community to take note and hold the minister accountable if anything untoward happens to the governor.
