Yemen's Supreme Political Council Calls for Massive Rally against Saudi Blockade

"A shot was just taken.at Saudi Arabia". It is unclear precisely when this occurred, but Sadegh Kharrazi, a former ambassador to the United Nations and France, was speaking about the Reformist era (1997-2005) when he made the remarks about Zarif, indicating that such pressure may have arisen after the collapse of Iran's nuclear negotiations with Europe in 2005, which coincided with the election of hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Bin Salman's political consolidation has come coupled with an ambitious programme of social and economic reforms aimed at modernisation the country. It also raised a $340mn loan in 2016.

Iran is ultimately to blame for a missile attack that targeted Saudi Arabia's main airport in its capital, Riyadh, the White House said Wednesday. Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal - the wealthiest Arab tycoon who holds significant stakes in Citigroup, Twitter and countless other companies - got caught up in the dragnet.

At least he is still alive. The Saudi-led coalition cited Qatar's alleged support for terrorism as the main reason for their actions, insisting Qatar has violated a 2014 agreement with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). There was no immediate comment from the royal court on this story.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign. Of note, the Jomuri-e Eslami newspaper, whose editor is also appointed by the supreme leader, criticized Kayhan for its headline.

—Opening of all ports to humanitarian and commercial vessels, especially those with critical supplies.

—Halt to interference with all vessels that have passed inspection by the U.N. Verification and Inspection Mechanism "so that they can proceed to port as rapidly as possible".

Bin Salman's power grab is in itself spectacular. The Crown Prince's ability to rule unchallenged depends on whether the purge is successful.

In response to the weekend missile attack, Saudi Arabia opted to close all of Yemen's air and sea ports, stunting humanitarian relief operations in the country. The last three kings have reached the throne aged 61, 80 and 79. He was summoned to Riyadh, where he was forced to read a letter announcing his immediate departure, the official reason being that he feared an assassination attempt by Hezbollah.

"Houthi missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, enabled by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, threaten regional security and undermine UN efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict", it added. His departure has shocked the region.

However, Kharrazi said that the way the talks were arranged and the performance of Rouhani ultimately paved the way for the nuclear deal, which was signed in 2015.

The vehicle was an anti-corruption committee created by King Salman, and announced on Nov. 4. The kingdom and America had long supported him as a bulwark against Hizbullah. But he is in prison, presumably as a warning to anyone who shows opposition to the young new broom.

Shares have dropped 21% since the crackdown started.

Under his supervision, in March this year, Saudi Arabia led coalition entered into war with Houthi rebels, which along with former President Ali Abdullah Saleh toppled the government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Fiscally, the prince has pledged to transform the country's economy by ending its dependance on oil, develop new technologies, cut welfare costs, introduce taxes, and privatise state-owned assets. The Saudis, though, are adamant, and they say that retaliation will follow. Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's adviser and son-in-law, recently left Riyadh after his third visit this year, staying up talking with the Crown Prince until the small hours of the morning at a ranch in the desert.
