A gang on mopeds ransacked Apple's flagship London store

Police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary at the tech giant's flagship store

The Metropolitan Police were alerted to reports of a robbery at around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, according to Sky News.

Ten thugs on five mopeds launched a mass raid on the Apple store in Regent Street early today snatching thousands of pounds worth of laptops and iPads.

Detectives are examining CCTV images of the incident and appealed for witnesses today.

Early today forensic experts were examining the scooter left abandoned inside the glass doors of the store.

"Two iPhone Xs were later recovered near Kings Cross [train station]". The suspects then drove off on waiting mopeds, the Evening Standard reported.

One customer Hajra Ali, 37, from Ilford, said: "Moped attacks have got really, really bad and I'm not surprised this happened".

In the year to September, there were more than 19,385 "moped-enabled" crimes in the capital - an average of 53 a day.

The raid comes one month after a gang of thieves riding mopeds attacked a high-end jeweller's in the same street.

The Regent Street store is open as usual, and apparently you can't even tell that it was broken into last night.

Three suspects are believed to have smashed display cabinets to escape with a high-value haul, after a hammer, axe and bats were used to break in to the store. Presumably, their job was made easier thanks to Apple removing anti-theft cables in its stores - but that also means it'll be easier for Apple to brick the stolen devices. The man in his 50s was targeted for his Louis Vuitton bag in the affluent London area of Chelsea.
