Insiders say "hundreds of names" were considered before Eve landed the full-time gig.

After a brief guest-hosting stint in October, the daytime talk series has chose to make Grammy-winning artist Eve Jeffers Cooper, known to her fans simply as "Eve", the fifth co-host for Season 8.

In a chat with People magazine, Eve reveals she was initially reluctant to join the Los Angeles-based show because she resides in London with her husband Maximillion Cooper.

While sitting at the table with Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood, Eve said, "I am so honored to be here with you ladies". "Eve is a natural fit with our dynamic group of Daytime Emmy Award-winning hosts, and brings a fresh perspective and bold point of view as an accomplished artist, businesswoman, and wife who is raising four stepchildren and looking to add to her family".

Two more albums would follow, as would a hit TV series, film roles ("xXx", the "Barbershop" franchise), a clothing line, endorsement deals and a Grammy in 2002 for her duet with Gwen Stefani, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" - the first song ever awarded for rap/sung collaboration. "I am interested in hosting, and specifically on this show, because I feel as though I can express myself in a way people haven't seen me before, and be able to engage in great discussions [and] have some fun", Eve told Variety.

"It is a new career move for me", Eve tells Variety. This opportunity came and it's something new, something exciting. She also does a voice on the FX comedy "Archer".

"I will definitely make time for acting, if there is time". "And music, yes, I've already started recording". "But the last few months I've been feeling that I want to join something".
