KJ George will not resign, we're ready for battle, declares Siddaramaiah

Quoting the Supreme Court's order on handing over the case to CBI and subsequent FIR filed by the CBI, Mr. Siddramaiah said that nowhere in the court order had Mr. George's name been mentioned.

"As continuation of George in the cabinet has become untenable, he should resign or be sacked till the CBI investigation is completed and he is acquitted. Until then Mr George will continue as a minister in my Cabinet", he declared. I even advised him not to do so, but on moral grounds he did.

The CID, which probed the case, gave clean chit to the Minister and the two senior Police Officers, following which Ganapathy's father Kushalappa moved the Supreme Court. "Currently, the opposition is demanding his resignation again, and this time, the whole party is adamant on the issue". No one resigns just because there is a FIR.

Belagavi: The opening day of the Winter Session of the State Legislature at Suvarna Soudha, Belagavi, yesterday witnessed heated exchanges between the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP in the Legislature Council as BJP members persisted with their demand for the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George, who has been named as the first accused in the FIR filed by the CBI in connection with the suicide of Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy. Although Chairman of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankarmurthy did not allow the adjournment motion saying there was no precedence to allow adjournment motion in the Upper House, the BJP members stuck to their demand forcing the chairman to adjourn the House to Tuesday.

Mr. Siddaramaiah countered Mr. Eshwarappa's argument and said the motion was not tenable.

Ganapathy, 51, was found hanging on July 7, 2016 in a lodge at Madikeri in Kodagu district, about 250 km to the west of the state capital.
