Russian Foreign Minister to visit Baku and Yerevan

The Azerbaijani media once again tried to distort the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman's remarks, Armen Israyelyan, an expert on Iranian studies wrote on Facebook, reflecting on the question addressed to the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qassemi by a reporter of APA Azerbaijani news agency regarding Armenian foreign minister's visit to Israel. "First of all, these visits are timed to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and, respectively, between Armenia and Azerbaijan", he said at a press conference on November 14.

Regional and worldwide issues will also be discussed during Lavrov's visits. "Among them, we will try to understand where we are in efforts for Karabakh settlement after the recent meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents", Lavrov said.

"Bilateral relations will be high on the agenda, questions concerning regional and global issues, the process of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict following the presidential meeting in Geneva on October 16 will be in the limelight too".

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
