Sam Mendes Exits Disney's Live-Action 'Pinocchio'

He was previously in talks for the live-action James and the Giant Peach adaption before exiting the movie for Pinocchio.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker is known for directing the last two James Bond films, but apparently Spectre was his last - or was it?

What exactly motivated Mendes, the Oscar-winning director behind films like American Beauty, to depart from the movie is now unknown, which is only made more complicated when considering the fact that Mendes left Disney's live-action James and the Giant Peach to join Pinocchio earlier this year. However, insiders close to The Tracking Board note that Mendes' Pinocchio dip-out isn't connected to Bond 25 in any way, though that doesn't necessarily mean the director won't end up helming the film.

After Bill Condon's Beauty and the Beast pulled in over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, the studio has multiple live-action movies based on their classic animation in the pipeline.

No news on who will replace Mendes on Pinocchio, but we'll keep you updated.
