While the tweets don't directly mention Star Wars Battlefront II in any way, the reference to the game is quite clear given the recent community backlash.

According to their calculations it would take 4,528 hours (just over 188 days) to unlock everything, assuming you earn in-game credits at a rate of 1,100 per hour.

This ignores the time required to unlock all the heroes, which has already become its own controversy - forcing EA to drop the requirements for unlocking them by 75%.

Star Wars Battlefront 2/Electronic ArtsA new gameplay mode is being introduced for "Star Wars Battlefront II" on the Gamescom event on August 21, featuring new multiplayer space combat.

The game without any of the extras is available for pre-order for between £49.99 and £69.99 in the United Kingdom, which many felt meant there should not be additional payments for the most popular Star Wars characters.

Users have rallied against this treadmill that many have alleged to be EA's way of pushing players to spend real money via microtransactions to unlock in-game content like these.

"The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes", the verified EACommunityTeam handle began to explain.

EA has already made a number of changes to how the system works, but it remains to be seen if they will instigate any more fundamental changes - and whether this style of monetisation will be used in future games, by them and other publishers. "Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits", Wasilczyk detailed in his announcement. This includes online multiplayer and three campaign missions.
