Socceroos World Cup Qualifier Against Honduras Officially Sold Out

Australia have officially secured qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation with a 3-1 win over Honduras on Wednesday night.

Captain Mile Jedinak scored a second half hat-trick to put the Socceroos on course for a 3-1 aggregate victory after the first leg in San Pedro Sula last week finished goalless.

Jedinak's first came courtesy of a deflected free-kick, before Tim Cahill went close to doubling the advantage with an excellent header that bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Maynor Figueroa found a scrappy reply in injury time but it was not enough for Honduras.

Matthew Jurman was perhaps lucky to still be on the pitch after clumsily going in over the ball when making a challenge on Elis in the second minute, getting away with a yellow card to avoid the earliest of showers.

Jedinak gave the hosts a 53rd-minute lead with a free-kick.

And the midfielder claimed a second penalty late on when Robbie Kruse was brought down by Palacios, with Jedinak slotting home to secure Australia's place at the World Cup finals in Russian Federation.
