Lake Tahoe weather: Mid-week winter storm watch in forecast

A couple of storm systems are moving in from the northwest with scattered rain/snow showers and gusty winds.

Tonight, clouds increase with light rain and snow (Adirondacks) showers kicking off after midnight over northern NY.

Thursday, those showers spread into Vermont; again likely initially as light snow or a wintry mix over higher terrain, changing to rain and all rain for valleys. Decreasing clouds throughout the day with highs in the 40's. The wind picks up Wednesday night into Thursday with gusts exceeding 20-30 miles per hour from the south.

The weekend looks mostly dry with high temperatures only reaching the 30s before the next possible weather system moves through Sunday night and into Monday. Overnight lows will remain above freezing prior to the cold front, keeping all precipitation as rain. Now as more information comes in, this system has been weakening over time, so we are not expecting a lot of snow, however, by Thursday night and Friday morning many passes will be snow covered leading to hard travel conditions. South wind 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour.
