It appeared that Virginia had maintained its momentum when it stopped Miami on downs to start the third quarter and then blocked a Hurricanes punt attempt.

The Citadel (5-6) ran for 155 yards.

UVA is now 6-5 and 3-4 in the ACC, while Miami stayed unbeaten at 10-0, 7-0 ACC.

Clemson will play SC (7-3, 5-3 SEC) next week before meeting No. 3 Miami on December 2 at 7 p.m. CT. Alex Hornibrook threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Taylor in third quarter to break open a defensive slugfest, and Kendric Pryor scored on an end-around to help Wisconsin remain undefeated.

Wisconsin has already secured its spot in the Big 10 Championship game, where it will most likely face No. 9 Ohio State (8-2, 6-1 Big 10).

Travis Homer rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown for Miami, which looks to close out a ideal ACC regular-season slate at Pittsburgh on Friday.

Wisconsin will play Minnesota (5-6, 2-6 Big 10) next week before heading to Indianapolis for the Big 10 Championship game.

The Canes whooped Virginia Tech and Notre Dame, but looked unimpressive in four one-score wins earlier in the season.

The Miami Hurricanes have flirted with disaster against ACC foes all season, and Saturday was no different. The timing for the regular-season finale is noteworthy.

Virgina did an excellent job stuffing the run game for three quarters.

Darius Slayton caught a 50-yard touchdown pass late in the first half and Auburn pulled away to set up next week's visit from No. 1 Alabama.

Defensively, the TCU defense held Texas Tech to only three points, which is the Red Raiders' lowest this season.

UVA Quarterback Kurt Benkert had a career start tossing for 384 yards and 4 touchowns to go along with one interception.

That sums up where the University of Miami is after a more-entertaining-than-expected 44-28 win against Virginia in which the Hurricanes scored the final 30 points of the game.

Virginia had a 21-14 lead thanks to Benkert's efficient first half. Unlike Virginia, the Hurricanes were able to rely somewhat on the running game with a combined 148 yards compared to the Cavaliers' 55 yards. Miami loses a day in preparation for Pitt but gains one as prepares for the December 2 ACC Championship game against Clemson in Charlotte. A loss could have derailed them, even with an ACC championship game victory over Clemson on December 2.

Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts and freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa each had three touchdowns in the win, combining for 265 yards.

Alabama is now the No. 1 seed in the SEC, with the championship game teams likely being decided next week when it faces No. 6 Auburn (8-2, 6-1 SEC).
