Saoirse Ronan hosting Saturday Night Live December 2; U2 performing

Saturday Night Live is preparing for an Irish takeover with Saoirse Ronan and U2 both set to appear on the legendary United States sketch show.

Saturday Night Live, famed for its uncanny sketches of well-known politicains and celebrities, is in its 43rd season.

On top of that, the special musical act for the night will be U2.

The 23-year-old actress' film credits include Lady Bird, Brooklyn, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Atonement.

The movie doesn't reach Irish shores until February 2018, but U2 fans won't have to wait that long for their new album, Songs Of Experience, as it is released on Friday 1 December, the day before they perform on SNL. We're honestly surprised to see them on the show at this point given that they certainly don't need to be coming on.
