Sterling Shepard has migraines, is unlikely to play

Already hit hard by injuries at the wide receiver position, it was reported Saturday night that the New York Giants could be without another pass-catching option when they host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

As Schefter alludes, Shepard will be given an opportunity to prove he can play during pre-game warmups, but the optimism there is lacking.

Unfortunately for Shepard, the defined "illness" is not a common cold or flu-like. Reports have leaked that he's not only sick but suffering from migraines before Sunday, making him "unlikely" to play.

Shepard has caught 38 passes for 475 yards and one touchdown this season, with his reception count being the second-highest on the team behind rookie tight end Evan Engram (40).

He missed two games earlier this season with an ankle injury but returned in Week 9 and stepped in as the No. 1 receiver for the Giants, who have lost Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall for the year.
