Cosby Show's Earle Hyman Dead at 91

Acclaimed actor Earle Hyman died Thursday at the age of 91, as first reported by Broadway Black.

Hyman was widely known as Russell Huxtable, father of Cliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby), on The Cosby Show.

Earle appeared in 40 episodes of the popular show, often offering advice to his grandchildren. Hyman passed away on November 17th at the Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, NJ according to reports. Hyman passed away at the Lillian Booth Actors Home, an assisted living facility for performers. However, the cause of death has not been revealed as of this time.

He was the voice of Panthera on the 1980's cartoon Thundercats and was also a Broadway actor. He voiced Panthro, the mechanic and pilot of the cartoon team. He also starred in Othello and performed throughout Europe.

"In 1986, Hyman was nominated for an Emmy for his role in a Cosby episode that is an all-time favorite titled "Happy Anniversary" In that episode, the Huxtable clan lip-synced to Ray Charles' (The Night Time) Is The Right Time" to celebrate he and TV wife Anna Huxtable's (played by Clarice Taylor) 49th wedding anniversary.
