Yesterday we reported that Playground Games, the developer behind the racing video game franchise Forza Horizon bought a new property for their second office where they will be working on their brand new IP - an AAA open-world action RPG. While details on the game itself are limited, GamesIndustry's story notes that Playground has brought Sean Eyestone, Will Kennedy, and Juan Fernandez di Simon onto the project. Prior to this, he spent ten years working at Kojima Productions on various Metal Gear Solid games, including open-world entries Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes. Last, but certainly not least, di Simon will be the principle combat designer after working as a senior designer on Hellblade.

"We're delighted that we've secured a second studio to house our new team".

As is plain to see, Playground Games is not skipping out on development talent.

There's no information just yet as to exactly what the new project is, but Playground's CEO told that it's a "hugely exciting project that is already attracting world-class talent to Playground".

"The combination of new blood and experienced Playground team members is already showing huge promise and I'm excited to see this talented group contribute to Playground's continued success".

Now, it appears said game is a new open world action RPG that will be worked on by a team whose collective experience boasts a number of top open world-inspired games. Combined with the established Playground studio, this will bring the company's headcount up to more than 400.

Forza Horizon 3 is a thief, and that's the best thing a racing game can be.
