UCONN vs. Michigan State - 11/23/17 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

After a string of upsets during Thanksgiving week, DePaul (1-3) looked like they might pull off one of their own after a strong first half against No. 4 Michigan State (3-1), but were not able to keep pace in the second half as the Spartans pulled away for a 73-51 win in the first round of the PK80 Classic Thursday Night. An early storyline this season for the Spartans has been the lack of production coming from the "two-guard" position with Matt McQuaid and Josh Langford. The Spartans committed nine turnovers in the opening half that turned into 12 DePaul points.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Spartans, while Langford added 10 points and Cassius Winston had 10 points, eight assists and eight rebounds. The over is 4-1 in Michigan State's last 5 games overall. As a team, UCONN is scoring 74.5 points per game on 43% shooting from the field, 28.9% from behind the arc and 75% from the foul line this season. The Spartans' depth was tested in the half as six players went into the break with two fouls, including Nick Ward who was held to two minutes and zero points due to a couple of early fouls that sent him to the bench.

The Blue Demons opened the second half scoring with a nice pass from Cain to McCallum for the dunk to take a 33-31 lead.

Michigan State came out of halftime focused and on fire as they made their first four shots from the field with McQuaid again being a catalyst not just at the start but throughout the remainder of the game. During that span McQuaid made three more 3-pointers, as he went six of eight behind the arc, to stretch MSU's lead to 51-37 with 10:11 remaining.

Michigan State (3-1) advances to take on CT at midnight Friday night/Saturday morning in the Victory Bracket semifinals at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
