The restaurant's window was damaged where there is a "Kosher" sign in Hebrew.

A man with a Palestinian flag yelling "God is great" was detained by police in the Netherlands on Thursday after smashing the windows of a kosher Jewish restaurant in Amsterdam.

The violent outburst came a day after US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a decision that reversed decades of US foreign policy, angered much of the Muslim world and was widely rejected by Western leaders. The officers wait until he breaks into the restaurant. He then kicks his way through the front door of the restaurant to pull down an Israeli flag. He throws it at their feet. The man was arrested by two police officers.

Police beefed up their presence around the restaurant and other Jewish institutions in the capital, according to the Federative Jewish Netherlands report.

Last year, a Jewish woman, Victoria Waniewicz, was stabbed in her back by a Brazilian man whom a judge deemed unfit to stand trial because of insanity, and who was hospitalized in a psychiatric institution of his choosing for one year.
