Brenton Cox, a 5-star defensive end from Stockbridge, Georgia, decommitted from the Ohio State Buckeyes Wednesday following an official visit to the Alabama Crimson Tide on December 1.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound prospect out of Stockbridge, Georgia, initially committed to the Buckeyes over the in-state Georgia Bulldogs back in April. Cox, the No. 13-ranked recruit in the 2018 class, announced his decision to decommit on twitter, which leaves the Buckeyes without a defensive end in the 2018 class.

Cox's decommitment is a blow to the stacked defensive line haul Ohio State's coaching staff had assembled in the 2018 class, which also includes five-star defensive tackle Taron Vincent of Bradenton (Florida) IMG and four-star junior college Antwuan Jackson.

The Buckeyes had both Cox and ESPN 300 quarterback Emory Jones in the class, both from Georgia, but are now just left with Jones as the only Peach State commitment.

Still on Ohio State's board are four-star defensive ends Tyreke Smith of Cleveland Heights and Jayson Oweh of Blairstown (New Jersey) Blair Academy.
