Brits Fighting For Islamic State Should Be 'Eliminated', Gavin Williamson Says

Britain's new Defence Secretary has unequivocally threatened to kill Britons who leave the country to fight for ISIS.

"We should do everything we can do to destroy and eliminate that threat".

At least 800 Britons have gone to Syria and Iraq to fight for IS and 130 of those have been killed in conflict.

Other terror experts have said they should instead be reintegrated.

"A dead terrorist can't cause any harm to Britain", he told the Daily Mail - prompting questions about whether the Ministry of Defence had drawn up a "kill list".

After the death of Jones, who was known as the "White Widow", Michael Fallon who was then Defence Minister said that British nationals who chose to leave the United Kingdom and fight for Islamic State were a "legitimate target".

He said: "Make sure there is no safe space for them, that they can't go to other countries preaching their hate, preaching their cult of death".

The Defence Secretary's remarks follow the reported drone-strike killing in Syria of a British IS member, Sally Jones, earlier this year and comments made by an global development minister, Rory Stewart, that " fighters could expect to be killed given the threat they posed to British security".

"A dead terrorist can't cause any harm to Britain", he argues.

.

This could mean seizing their passports if they try to cross global borders, the Daily Mail said.

MPs have pushed for more information on the decision-making process, that some critics say could amount to an unreviewable secret power to launch "extra-judicial executions".
