Coroner says comedian Ralphie May died of natural causes

Ralphie May's official cause of death has been revealed.

Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said in a statement Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, that the round-faced comedian whose body was found October 6 at a home in Las Vegas died of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Drugs and alcohol did not play a role, although the Coroner notes that May's weight was a contributing factor to his death.

Both TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter say that May was battling pneumonia this week but continued to perform scheduled shows in Las Vegas. He suffered cardiac arrest in a private residence in Las Vegas.

Just two days before his death, the comic won the Casino Comedian of the Year award at the Global Gaming Expo.
