Bangor Residents Protest Senate Tax Bill

With reporters looking for updates, Sen.

Five people were arrested after refusing to leave Senator Susan Collins' office in Bangor Monday night, according to Bangor Police.

A group gathered outside the Federal Building to voice their concerns on a tax break, they say, will benefit only the wealthy and big corporations. He said he's shocked Collins would buy into the tax bill.

Collins was in D.C.at the time of the sit-in and has not communicated with the protesters, said Annie Clark, Collins' communication director.

"I always welcome hearing the views of my constituents". This is an opportunity for me to let them know that a single mom with one child earning $35,000 would receive $1,100 back from the government, rather than owing income tax, which would certainly be helpful to her in making ends meet.

Passing the recent tax bill - which is based on the voodoo economics that began the undermining of the health of America's hardworking middle class and working poor - was little more than a last-minute scramble by the Senate to pull something out for the White House after a year fraught with chaos and poorly crafted policies - many, like this one, simply created to provide welfare for those who need it least.
