Ford responded to the allegations in a tweet.

Ford was hired by Morgan Stanley in 2011 as a senior client relationship manager. He was a Democratic congressman for Tennessee from 1997 to 2007.

The unnamed woman - who doesn't work at Morgan Stanley but had professional interactions with Ford - said she was forced to seek help from a building security guard.

Former Democratic congressman and MSNBC mainstay Harold Ford Jr. was sacked on Thursday by Morgan Stanley after he was accused of "harassment, intimidation, and forcibly" grabbing a woman several years ago, according to HuffPost.

In her account, the woman, who is not identified in the story, said she and Ford were meeting for business reasons when the incident took place.

"He has been terminated for conduct inconsistent with our values and in violation of our policies", a spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley told HuffPost in an email.

"This simply did not happen". Ford only desisted after the woman emailed him explicitly warning him to knock it off, it states. "I will now be bringing legal action against the reporter who has made these false claims about me as well as Morgan Stanley for improper termination". Time magazine on Wednesday named the "Silence Breakers" its Person of the Year.

Ford's firing comes amid allegations of sexual harassment and assault toppling key figures in the entertainment and political arena.
