Heavy favorite emerging for 5-star Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson

Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh directs players during warm ups at Michigan Stadium on Saturday

MI coach Jim Harbaugh was in Oxford, Miss., on Tuesday to meet with the trio.

Ole Miss players have been given their release to transfer in the wake of hefty NCAA sanctions just handed down to the Rebels, including a two-year postseason ban that runs through the 2018 season (the school self-imposed a bowl ban this year).

The seven players who are reportedly interested in MI are Patterson, Anderson, wide receiver Van Jefferson, offensive tackle Greg Little, linebacker Breon Dixon, offensive tackle Bryce Matthews, and tight end Jacob Mathis.

Patterson is expected to take an official visit to MI this weekend.

Multiple sources have indicated to The Blade that MI is the front-runner to land the services of former five-star quarterback Shea Patterson.

The Wolverines are reportedly hosting a marquee transfer.

There is growing backlash from the general public and media regarding the players having to sit out.

Patterson, the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country in 2016, grew up in Toledo before moving to the south. He averaged 13.6 yards per pass in seven games this season with the Rebels, and he passed for at least 350 yards in five of his seven starts, before a torn ligament in his right knee ended his season in October.

His arrival could solidify a murky quarterback position for MI. He had 32 tackles and an interception as a freshman.

Anderson is also rumored to be visiting Oklahoma and TCU after MI.

The Wolverines' passing offense ranked 11th in the Big Ten this season; their quarterbacks threw just nine touchdowns all year. Jefferson, a wide receiver, had 42 catches for 456 yards in 2017.
