"I am tremendously blessed to work with such great leadership at the University of Pittsburgh in Athletic Director Heather Lyke and Chancellor Patrick Gallagher", Narduzzi said.

Pittsburgh has signed coach Pat Narduzzi to a new contract that will keep him with the Panthers through the 2024 season.

Under the helm of Narduzzi, the Pitt Panthers have won 21 games. "He and his staff are fully dedicated to building a national-caliber program the right way, on and off the field".

"It is a tremendous honor to be the head football coach at Pitt", he said in the announcement.

Pitt's tax documents show Narduzzi earned $1,768,841 in the 2016 fiscal year, the second highest salary at the University.

Although financial terms of the contract weren't immediately released, the 51-year-old CT native ranked 61st among college football coaches with total pay of just over $1.8 million in 2017, per USA Today.

Narduzzi, a former Michigan State defensive coordinator, has been at Pitt for three seasons.

"We're thrilled Pat Narduzzi is our head football coach".

"When I initially accepted this head coaching position at Pitt three years ago this month, I said we could achieve great things if we were all moving in the same direction", Narduzzi said.

"We are really enthusiastic about the team we have coming back for 2018", Narduzzi said in a written statement. 247Sports notes Pitt now ranks last in the 14-team ACC for its 2018 recruiting class.
