He is a tough fighter and he is going to be in front of me regardless of what I do.

Two of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport will square off inside the Theater at Madison Square Garden in NY on Saturday when Vasyl Lomachenko defends his WBO junior lightweight title against Guillermo Rigondeaux. We'll be providing round-by-round coverage of the ESPN-televised card, which begins at 9 p.m. ET (live streaming via WatchESPN).

"I am telling you without any reservation that Vasyl Lomachenko is the greatest fighter that I've seen since Muhammad Ali", legendary promoter Bob Arum told the BBC earlier this week.

Cuba's Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs), a defensive wizard who doubles as arguably boxing's most avoided fighter, will be moving up two divisions from 122 pounds where now he holds a title.

"I wanted to fight him when he was at 126", Rigondeaux said.

Down the line, Conlan expects he will face Lomachenko or Rigondeaux - probably the latter - and the challenge excites him. "This city has so much energy and it's where I want to be". "It's the only way the fight was going to happen and it's great for boxing".

Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs), 29, of Ukraine, who will be making his fourth title defense, said Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs), is full of it. Lomachenko said he has seen a video in which a reporter asked Rigondeaux about fighting him when he was still at boxing as a featherweight.

The fight will be the first time in history that a pair of two-time Olympic gold medalists will fight each other as professionals.

Rigondeaux, 37, took home the gold medal for Cuba at the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics.

Both boxers have won multiple Olympic gold medals.
