Zarate is led into the Hall of Justice for his arraignment in San Francisco

A photo of murder victim Kate Steinle (R), allegedly killed at the hands of an undocumented immigrant, is placed on an easel as her father Jim Steinle (2nd L) prepares to testify about her murder during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on U.S. immigration enforcement policies, on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, U.S. on July 21, 2015. "San Francisco is a sanctuary city, in other words, a city run by politicians who would rather protect criminal aliens than American citizens".

"Letting people pour into our country, we don't know who they are, we don't know where they come from ― you saw what happened with handsome Kate Steinle", the president said at his rally in Pensacola, referring to the 2015 fatal shooting of a woman in San Francisco that has become a flashpoint for the right in calling for stricter immigration.

Trump called Zarate's acquittal for the murder a "final injustice" and blasted sanctuary cities as "no good".

The president also lashed out at Democratic lawmakers, some of whom have said they will block government funding bills unless a deal is reached to help young immigrant "Dreamers" avoid the risk of deportation.

President TrumpDonald John TrumpHouse Democrat slams Donald Trump Jr. for "serious case of amnesia" after testimony Skier Lindsey Vonn: I don't want to represent Trump at Olympics Poll: 4 in 10 Republicans think senior Trump advisers had improper dealings with Russia MORE used his weekly address on Saturday to blast so-called "sanctuary cities" that refuse to share information about undocumented immigrants in custody with federal authorities.

"Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress not only oppose our efforts to stop illegal immigration and crack down on sanctuary cities", Mr. Trump said in his weekly address. "We can not allow it".

The reason the folks of San Francisco did not find Jose Ines Garcia Zarate guilty in the death of Kate Steinle is very obvious. "No American should be separated from their loved ones because of preventable crime committed by those illegally in our country. Reasonable people can disagree on many things, but there can be no disagreement that the first duty of government is to serve, protect, and defend American citizens".
