Good Samaritan, 30, attempting to intervene in couple's argument is thrown 45 FEET off a bridge by the boyfriend

The victim and his brother had tried to intervene when they saw suspect Gregory Rottjer arguing with his girlfriend, Jennifer Hannum, as the couple walked across the Derby-Shelton Bridge, the Connecticut Post reported. Police said that before being shoved off the bridge, the victim can be seen in the video retreating with his hands in the air, with Rottjer in aggressive pursuit.

Rottjer's friend, Matthew Dorso, 27, who was at the scene, was charged with assault while Rottjer's girlfriend, Jennifer Hannum, 22, was charged with lying to police about the incident.

When police turned on the phone, they said there was a text message that stated, "Hi I am the owner of this iPhone, please call me to be returned". Police say Rottjer intentionally threw the vicitim over the bridge.

The victim told police that he told Rottjer, 25, to "chill out".

And Gregory threw him off the bridge.

In the course of the investigation, Hannum allegedly lied to the police, claiming to have no knowledge about the incident. Reports indicate investigators found her statement to be inaccurate.

Rottjer was held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on December 12 at Derby Superior Court. He faced a judge on Tuesday in Derby Superior Court. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Dorso was charged with third-degree assault and released on a promise to appear in court. Hannum, who was charged with interfering with an officer, was released on a $1,000 bond.

A December 22 court date has been set for Dorso and Hannum.
