Las Cruces police are continuing to investigate after a Salvation Army Red Kettle was stolen last week.

Kettle donations to date are at $41,000.

For the third year in a row, someone feeling extra generous this holiday season, dropped two rare gold coins into a Salvation Army red kettle in Pompano Beach.

Salvation Army donations are down thousands of dollars this year, and they are asking for the public's help.

All kettles require a volunteer to accept donations, and without enough volunteers, fundraising efforts will continue to fall.

The Salvation Army is an worldwide Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882.

"We have until Friday so that we can make sure that your gift goes to your child that you've purchased for and the angel that you've adopted", Salvation Army of Wilmington Corps Officer Maj.

Also, the Salvation Army of Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler Counties has some good news to share. Lopez says the funds they collect remain local and are used all year long for Emergency Services including rent, utilities, and food, the Community Meal Program, and the Food Pantry.
