In a statement to ET on Thursday, an ABC spokesperson revealed that Batali has been fired after being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.

"While we remain unaware of any type of inappropriate behavior involving him and anyone affiliated with our show, ABC takes matters like this very seriously as we are committed to a safe work environment and his past behavior violates our standards of conduct", the statement read.

In an essay posted on Medium, Bourdain spoke out about recent accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Batali, as well as NY restaurant owner Ken Friedman.

The restaurant owner admitted that while he doesn't know who the individuals are, the behavior in the Eater report matches how he has acted.

Mario Batali Has Been Officially Fired From The Chew

"I apologize to the people I have mistreated and hurt", Batali said in a statement to Eater.

In light of the harassment stories, Batali has stepped away from his businesses, and other business interests now hang in the balance as sponsors, purveyors, partners, and producers weigh his image and involvement in everything from his licensing deals to television appearances. "I take full responsibility and am deeply sorry for any pain, humiliation or discomfort I have caused to my peers, employees, customers, friends and family". "To the extent which my work in Kitchen Confidential celebrated or prolonged a culture that allowed the kind of grotesque behaviors we're hearing about all too frequently is something I think about daily, with real remorse", he said.

"That doesn't make me any more enlightened than any other man who has begun listening and paying attention". "The successes I have enjoyed are owned by everyone on my team".

Giving the post an even more personal undertone, she replied "I miss everything about that picture". "The failures are mine alone", he said. "I will spend the next period of time trying to do that". After the allegations came to light ABC asked the popular chef to step down from "The Chew".
