On the hand, supporters of the presidential candidate of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Senator George Manneh Weah in a chat with the GNN-Liberia also said they are hopeful of their candidate capturing the presidency, stressing that Weah's effort to putting Liberia on the worldwide map for his professional skills and leadership ability gave him the edge over his opponent.

Nobel Peace Prize victor Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is stepping down after two terms in office that brought the country out of back-to-back civil wars and grappled with a deadly Ebola outbreak.

Boakai and Weah were the top vote-getters in the October 10 election, with Weah getting 38.4 percent and Boaki coming in second with 28.8 percent.

Liberians choose a new leader Tuesday in a run-off between Vice President Joseph Boakai and footballing icon George Weah, a vote that will mark the country's first democratic transition since 1944.

The run-off election was delayed for weeks after the country's Supreme Court ordered a halt following an allegation of rigging and fraud during the first round of voting. He was seen in public with Mrs. Johnson-Sirleaf last Thursday.

As Liberia's most famous son, Weah attracts huge crowds and has a faithful youth following in a country where a fifth of the electorate is aged 18 to 22, but he is criticised for issuing vague promises and for his long absences from the nation.

"You know I've been in competitions -- tough ones too and I came out victorious".

"I cam here as early as 4:45 am to stand in queue in order to be one of the first persons to cast my ballot in favor of my prefered presidential candidate".

Sirleaf is stepping down after two terms as president.

The victor will take over a country whose economy has been weakened by sinking commodity prices for rubber and iron ore and whose currency is on a downward spiral.
