Maruti Suzuki #ConceptFutureS urban SUV to make global debut at Auto Expo 2018

The urban SUV image is put together by the bold and upright front, with a A-pillar treatment, that connects to the accent on the side sill, taut powerful shoulders and a raised rear volume, according to the filing.New Delhi:Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) is all set to have the global premiere of its new compact vehicle known as Concept FutureS at the Auto Expo in February 2018, according to a BSE filing.

The teaser sketches clearly reveal that the Future S, with its distinctive two-box silhouette, upright proportions and muscular haunches, is a compact SUV. The increasing preference for SUVs as a body style across the spectrum of the market is driving this new design direction. "It should be sub-4-metre", said Gaurav Vangaal, senior automotive forecasting analyst. And that job gets more hard when the length further shrinks - the Future S is over 200mm shorter than the Vitara Brezza.

The Future S has a high bonnet line, near-vertical A-pillars and design cues that make it a more of a traditional SUV than a crossover. "Trying to get high seating, good legroom, good visibility while balancing the proportions is quite tough but we feel we've managed to achieve this" says Raman. The SUV is also expected to be based on Suzuki's lightweight "Heartect" platform that also underpins Baleno.

The compact SUV segment below the Vitara Brezza is relatively untapped with little competition at the moment.

One of the most-awaited cars of 2018 is scheduled to be introduced in the Indian markets at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 in New Delhi. The Concept FutureS will be a cross between the SUV and compact vehicle positioned somewhere between the A and B segments.
