New Altered Carbon Trailer and Key Art Wraps You Up in the Future

Netflix has released the first full trailer for its jaw-dropping sci-fi epic Altered Carbon.

Set to a remix of Nine Inch Nails' "The Beginning of the End", the first long-form trailer for the series debuting February 2 offers the type of visual style and action that helped Dennis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 find so many fans, including the Tracking Board's Chief Film Critic Drew McWeeny. No wonder, then, that these characters go all in when it comes to battle: What are a few mortal injuries when you can just upload your consciousness into a fresh new body, or "sleeve"? The story focuses on the world's wealthiest man, who is murdered; when his mind is transferred, he hires an ex-soldier to investigate who killed him.

Altered Carbon is based on Richard K. Morgan's cyberpunk noir novel and set some 300 years in the future.

In the world of Altered Carbon, Netflix's upcoming sci-fi drama starring The Killing's Joel Kinnaman, humans shed their bodies "as a snake sheds its skin", the series official trailer informs us. In the future, technology has advanced to the point that human consciousness can be downloaded and placed in storage or transferred to a new human host upon death. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder ... that of Bancroft himself.

The series hails from writer-producer Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: Battle Angel, Shutter Island) and Emmy-winning director Miguel Sapochnik (the "Battle of the Bastards" episode of Game of Thrones), and is produced by Skydance Television for Netflix.
