LG alpha 9 CES 2018 LG TVs Get Smarter With AI

Samsung, LG and Panasonic have announced new TVs and we have to say that they all look good. Featuring a large, semi-transparent touch screen on one of its doors, the fridge can reveal its contents with a double-tap of the display - no need to open the door and let the cold air escape. "As we continue to push past 65", through 75" and now up to 88" there becomes a point where even the pixels available in 4K lacks the density to look good at this massive sizes. LG calls the design aesthetic "picture-on-wall" and, put in front of a non-techy, it would definitely give the illusion of a lovely art display. No not at all for one simple reason, content. We'll update this post as we find out more, so stick with us.

The new TVs are brighter too: up to 4,000 nits, which is four times brighter than last year's range. Not a lot is known about the prototype yet, but check out more info HERE courtesy of The Verge.

This is actually the secret to the monitor - an OLED screen created to be so thin that it becomes as flexible as a thin strip of film or a sheet of paper. Will it be the best screen you've ever laid eyes on? Selected LG Nano Cell SUPER UHD TVs employ Full-Array Local Dimming (FALD) back-lighting to provide deeper blacks and enhanced colours, as well as nuanced shadow details for life-like images.

The size of each pixel and the in turn aperture ratio have been reduced to achieve such an impressive resolution without having to compromise the brightness. The resolution of the TV is higher than most of the still photography cameras.

To complement this announcement they have also announced an upgraded version of its Crystal Sound tech (seen in Sony's OLED TVs) that embeds speakers directly into the screen. This leads to an increase in power consumption and material costs.

In-Byung Kang, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at LG Display stated that the successful development of this screen is critical in the 8K scenery. Bigger is usually better when it comes to TVs, especially with the cinematic quality of OLED. Apart from this, the company has also showcased 88 Inch OLED display with 8K resolution.
