Aviation student proposes with huge 'Marry Me' message on frozen lake

What makes the story of Gavin Becker and Olivia Toft particularly delightful is the continuing role that Eighth Crow Wing Lake plays in the history of love.

He has set the bar for proposals too high.

Becker, soon to graduate from the University of North Dakota in aviation, recently proposed to his high school sweetheart Olivia Toft by taking her up in an airplane.

Becker's family had helped come up with the idea, inspired by family history. Gavin figured he needed to step up his game while asking his girlfriend to spend the rest of her life with him.

Gavin used a snowblower to pen the romantic message in front of the family's In-We-Go Resort on a frozen lake. "Never asks for help". Ed Becker figured it took them about 4 and 1/2 hours to finish the message, whose letters were a whopping 25 feet tall. Then he rented a plane and flew Toft for over the lake to see - and she said yes.

In this January 7, 2018 photo provided by Ed Becker, Gavin Becker and his long-time girlfriend Olivia Toft fly over the spot where he proposed on Eight Crow Wing Lake near Nevis, Minn.

The Cessna finally started, the couple took to the sky - and Olivia said yes.

"We are definitely fond of Olivia", Ed said.
