Couple in Arizona police chase embraces before being arrested

A high-speed police chase from Mesa, Ariz. ended in dramatic (and slightly romantic) fashion.

After getting out of the vehicle they split up to try and lose the police, but end up back together as the police close in. The SUV then rams through a fence into a desert area.

The chase began Wednesday night after the couple failed to stop for officers who were investigating a call about a stolen SUV.

Police helicopter footage shows the couple dropping to the ground as armed officers move in to arrest them.

A Mesa police officer tried to pull the suspected couple over but the driver, believed to be Perkins, evaded arrest and drove off.

Perkins is reported to have suffered a broken hand in the crash while Flores is in "serious condition".

Dustin Perkins, 35, and Lovida Flores, 29, are charged with unlawful flight, reckless driving, aggressive driving, criminal damage, and stolen vehicle, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.
