Diet Coke Launches 4 New Flavors and a Totally Different Look

Additionally, new flavors have been added, including Ginger Lime, Feisty Cherry, Zesty Blood Orange and Twisted Mango. This year, to continue our focus on encouraging people to try the drink, which has the same great Coke taste with no calories, we have re-developed a fantastic, heart-warming advert.

Coca-Cola said the new flavors and look - with a different color vertical stripe for each flavor and red for plain - are aimed at appealing to millennials.

Citing millennials as the inspiration for the change, Rafael Acevedo, the group director for Diet Coke in North America, explained that "Throughout this relaunch journey, we wanted to be bold, think differently and be innovative in our approach". "The same unapologetic confidence still comes through and the same great Diet Coke taste people love is here to stay, but we're making the brand more relatable and more authentic"'.

Diet Coke is getting a makeover to try to invigorate the sugar-free soda's slumping sales.

During the product's development process, Acevedo's department spoke with more than 10,000 Americans and created over 30 test flavours, including Diet Coke with "tropical, citrus and even botanical notes".

Excited Coke fans tweeted their excitement: "I like this new millennial-oriented Diet Coke can, probably the flavours too".

In spite of these new changes, Coca-Cola says that the recipe for its classic Diet Coke has not been reformulated.

Diet Coke and the new flavors will be packaged in sleek 12-ounce cans and sold as on-the-go singles and in 8-packs.

Sommerville now says the design team have an opportunity to rethink such an iconic brand with the scale and reach of Diet Coke.

The company has unveiled a new design for the low-sugar drinks brand in the United States market, and introduced four new flavours.

The new US Diet Coke packaging shift seems to contradict its previous message. "We want to build on the success we have had to date reminding people of what makes it so special".

Expect a slightly taller, slimmer can with a new design.
