At first, police were unable to establish either the age or gender of the body as it was so badly burned, but it was later confirmed to be that of the 21-year-old, of Wandsworth, who was originally from Troyes in north-east France.

A designer who used to date the founder of Boyzone has admitted perverting the course of justice by attempting to dispose of her nanny's body by burning it.

In September, her burnt remains were discovered in the garden of a house in south London after local residents complained of "bad smelling" smoke coming from the backyard of the £1m home in Pulborough Road, SW18.

Designer Sabrina Kouider, 34, and her fiancé Ouissem Medouni, 40, of Wandsworth, South London, deny murder.

Ms Kouider appeared tearful and looked over briefly at Mr Medouni before entering her guilty plea at the Old Bailey. A French interpreter helped her to follow the hearing.

As the charge of perverting the course of public justice was read to Medouni, he paused for several seconds before responding: "Guilty".

The five-week murder trial is due to start on 19 March.
