The move is possible because FCA made the prior decision to make the new big Jeep SUVs on the Ram body-on-frame platform. "It is only proper that our employees share in the savings generated by tax reform and that we openly acknowledge the resulting improvement in the USA business environment by investing in our industrial footprint accordingly".

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced plans to invest more than $1 billion into the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in MI to prepare the plant to build the next-generation of Ram Heavy Duty pickups. A portion of the investment will also be to expand the Jeep product line at the assembly plant with the addition of the all-new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.

FCA's initial investment in Warren for the Wagoneers was announced in January 2017. That plant will be retooled to make future commercial vehicles for global export which takes advantage of Mexico having more trade agreements than the U.S.

Second, the Company confirmed that it will make a special bonus payment of $2,000 to approximately 60,000 FCA hourly and salaried employees in the USA, excluding senior leadership. The payment will be made in the second quarter of this year.

To support the increased volume at the Warren facility, 2,500 new jobs will be created, above and beyond the jobs announced as part of the January 2017 announcement.

Production of the heavy duty trucks will be relocated to the Warren Truck Assembly plant in 2020, which was made possible in part by the passage of USA tax reform legislation late previous year, according to the automaker.

FCA has invested $10 billion in its USA manufacturing operations since June 2009. In the process, it will add 2,500 jobs.
