United and Chelsea are thought to be weighing up more experienced options than Arthur too.

It was believed that the 21-year-old was Barcelona-bound after he was pictured posing in the club's shirt after a meeting meeting Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez.

However, the Daily Mail claim this enraged Gremio as no deal had been agreed and the Brazilian outfit are now demanding Barcelona pay the full value of Arthur's £45m release clause.

Manchester United have joined Premier League rivals Chelsea in showing an interest in Gremio starlet Arthur Melo, according to a report.

Gremio remain keen to sell the Brazilian, who they signed two years ago and is expected to go to the World Cup in Russian Federation next summer, and Chelsea and United are believed to be interested in securing a January move.

The Catalans have so far refused to meet those demands and have shelved their interest in Arthur until the summer after splashing out on Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina this month.

And Gremio are keen to strike a deal with either of them now for between £30m and £35m.

Although, it seems no deal has been struck yet, which has led to Chelsea's interest seemingly being firmed up.
