'The Walking Dead' Season 8: Carl's presence will be 'critical'

But once he laid out to me exactly what his long-term plans were, and the things that come out of it, and the things that it leads to, it was something I got on board with. That just shows that you're engaged and you're interested.

The first half of "The Walking Dead" Season 8 concluded with one of the show's central characters being bitten by a walker. Carl's was the only original character in The Walking Dead who has been around since the Atlanta group with Rick, Daryl, and Carol, as reported by Cinema Blend. That's right, Carl's days are numbered, and with talk that he'll bow out of The Walking Dead late next month - February 25th, to be specific - Robert Kirkman assured fans that they'll soon have the chance to make peace with what is arguably the show's biggest death yet. But Kirkman believes Carl's death will ultimately be good for the show. We are supposed to be anxious about what comes next, and anticipating what comes next, and stressing about what comes next. It's definitely Chandler's best work. Our job is to now pay that off and fulfill that interest, and prove that this was a decision worth making. It's something he should really be proud of.

According to DailyMail.com, the message on The Spoiling Dead Fans site read: "Out of respect for me, for Carl, and for one of the last few seasons of the show, I'm asking you not to spoil the ending of 808 once your sources inform you of what happens".

He told Entertainment Weekly: "We have known these storylines have been coming for years".

'There are big, huge stories coming up that you might think will be massively altered because of the absence of Carl. There aren't many opportunities to cross the two shows over, given that they are set in different parts of the country and, by and large, different time periods after the Apocalypse. "The goal is that those differences will be as exciting to the audience as they are to me".

The Walking Dead returns February 25, 2018 on AMC in the United States and February 26, 2018 on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
