"From Wednesday night, we had of course Jack, who was injured", said Wenger.

Jack Wilshere could play against his former club as Arsenal travel to Bournemouth on Super Sunday. He had a swollen knee and a recurrence of what he had two or three weeks ago. Arsene Wenger confirmed the good news for his team at his press conference at London Colney early on Friday morning.

The north London side are now in sixth place as they try to get back into the top four this season under Arsene Wenger and bring Champions League football back to The Emirates. That at the moment is a bit 50-50.

Wilshere, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth but failed to score in 29 appearances, captained Arsenal at Stamford Bridge and wrote on Instagram: "Hope my injury is not too bad and I'm back as soon as possible".

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is without Jermain Defoe for the game against Arsenal after the forward fractured his right ankle in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Chelsea last month.

Wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez was named on the substitutes bench against Chelsea but Wenger may decide to bring him back for this one, while either Alex Iwobi or Danny Welbeck will support Alexandre Lacazette in attack.

Joshua King is out with a hamstring injury while winger Ryan Fraser also looks set to miss the game with the same issue. Bournemouth will take the game to Arsenal and I fancy them to get a result.

Arsenal are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after the disappointment of their fifth-placed finish last term left them playing Europa League football.

The Gunners have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.

Only Chelsea (13) have scored more headed goals than Arsenal (9) in the Premier League this season, while no side has conceded more via headers than Bournemouth (9).
