Images have been released showing the destruction caused by a 1,000C inferno that engulfed a Liverpool vehicle park on New Year's Eve.

"Initial investigations indicate that an accidental fire within a vehicle caused other cars to ignite".

A fire on Sunday night in the seven-storey carpark for the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England destroyed nearly all the vehicles parked inside and led to cancellation of the final evening of the Liverpool International Horse Show and evacuation of nearby blocks of flats.

The evening performance of the Liverpool International Horse Show that was scheduled to take place at the Echo Arena was cancelled as a result of the fire.

Motor insurers are likely to collectively pay out about £20mn ($27mn) to policyholders following a fire in a Liverpool vehicle park, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has estimated.

Nobody got injured, be it humans or horses.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service/PA Temperates reached 1,000C during the blaze. The popular horse show was canceled because of the fire, which was brought under control early Monday morning.

Information desks were set up in the surrounding hotels and Liverpool city council opened temporary shelters for anyone not able to make it home.

"The announcer then advised us all to go and get a coffee or do some shopping while emergency services put out the fire". "They've worked hard to help everyone they can who has been affected by last night's fire, giving up their NYE". All horses were successfully evacuated from the carpark and then removed from the stables after smoke spread to them.

The fire started shortly before 5pm on New Year's Eve and was fully extinguished approximately 24 hours later.

Sunday's evening session was the final event in the horse show.

They include Celebrating Sgt Pepper on 13 January to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the arena.

"It was frightening. We could hear the bangs of vehicle windows exploding", he said.

"We will continue to communicate with all our clients who are organising forthcoming conferences, exhibitions and entertainment events as well as customers and delegates".
