Urging special interlocuter appointed by the Modi Government to include militant groups and Hurriyat in the peace talks, the PDP leader denounced glorification of deaths of militants by certain groups. He also said that "militants are our brothers and their killing should be avoided".

Mr Mir, who represents Wachi constituency of South Kashmir in the state Assembly, pleaded that no one should celebrate the killings of a militant as each such death was the collective failure of the countrymen.

He also expressed his sympathy over the killing of security forces.

"We killed 200 (militants) but 200 more (militants) joined militancy (last year)", he said.

Speaking to members of the press, Pir said that many militants active in the state are minors and are not aware of the consequences of their action.

While talking in Assembly, Aijaz said that those who die in Kashmir day in and out are Kashmiris and are brothers, so it is responsibility of everyone in this house to ensure that the youth of Kashmir, be that militant or protester should be saved from being killed. "How can they be someone's brother?" asked Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

"If we do no believe in the Constitution of J&K or of the nation, then what would you achieve".

"We should not celebrate the killings of militants, it is our collective failure, we feel sad when our security forces are martyred as well, we should sympathise with parents of security jawans and with parents of militants as well", he said outside the Assembly on Thursday. "Our president (Mehbooba Mufti) would also go", he said.

Aijaz Ahmed Mir's remarks came as an embarrassment for the party as its alliance partner BJP decried the comments saying these were "absolutely intolerable" and demanded an FIR against him.

"There can be ideological clashes between them and us".
