The Nevada Highway Patrol investigates a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 95, near Kyle Canyon Road, north of Las Vegas, Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. Reported at 11:30 a.m., traffic is being detoured around the Florida 206 overpass, then back onto I-95, the Sheriff's Office said.

By 2 p.m., all lanes on the interstate were reopened with the Sheriff's Office warning motorists to use caution as it would take a while for the morning's congestion to clear.

The two wrecks followed a Thursday night crash on US 1 at Race Track Road that killed a Ponte Vedra Beach woman.

All southbound lanes were temporarily shut down during the investigation.

Last year, 44 people were killed in 41 crashes. Thirty people died in crashes in 2016.
